We had the chance to talk with Kiid Maestro about his collaboration with Lil Wayne, one of the most famous rappers in the world.
"Hello my name is Maestro and I am the Playback Engineer for Lil Wayne. I have been apart of the live performance team for about 2 years now.
My primary responsibility for the shows is making sure the setlist is in the correct order in the Ableton session, setting up my playback rig with the LioBox as well as setting up the second LioBox for DJ T Lewis. I communicate with our drummer Yayo The One Man Band and his tech Kevin Day to make sure all clicks and slates are perfect for them. I also communicate with DJ T Lewis for cues of starting and stopping tracks.
The thing I love most about the LioBox is how simple it makes running a live performance. It helps our DJ tremendously being able to show him the BPM for each song as well as the time. For me, firing tracks is always so satisfying I always feel as if I’m performing as well. Also with the amount of shows we do with varying time limits and song selections, it’s great to be able to save multiple setlists within the LioBox for easy recalls!"
