"My name is Arthur Baillet, and I work on LUJIPEKA's tour. I am a playback engineer, which means I handle the sequences from the computer to Ableton for all the melodies that cannot be played live on stage. Generally, LUJI would come here to manage his autotune presets, and sometimes we would make key changes to enhance the impact of the songs or even change the BPM to make it faster or slower.
Currently, the session has 450 tracks, which is quite a lot. There are LTC tracks sent to the lighting to synchronize everything. There are autotune tracks to manage all the autotune presets that change depending on the songs. We have clicks sent to the drummers and singers, including Luji. Additionally, we have all the tracks arranged in a staircase pattern to adjust volume or process each track individually.
I have two Mac Minis connected with the PA12, the Play Audio 12. There's a switch-over mechanism that happens manually if there's a problem with one and it crashes, I switch to the other manually. Plus, we have the Liobox that indicates both computers are connected with the green light from both computers, ensuring they are synchronized when starting a track. We have three Lioboxes. One at FOH, one here, and one on stage for DJ KCIV, who is LUJI's DJ. A MIDI network extends to Cassiv, allowing him to send commands using controllers to change parameters in Ableton.
I manage autotune with UAD, but to change presets, I have to send information or notes from Ableton using the UAMIDI gateway, which links the two and changes the presets for each track.
The Liobox displays all the crucial information we need. We create setlists with all the tracks sequenced one after another. We can see the title of the next track, BPM, and all the critical functions for each track. There is now an app that allows connection and updates or synchronization of setlists across all boxes.
What’s great about the Liobox is that it is user-friendly, robust, and extremely stable. I've never seen it crash. It’s solid and feels durable, difficult to break. It also indicates if there are problems in your session, providing feedback on issues with markers or other elements. I'm very happy to have a Liobox and use it every day."
